A Tribute To Our Former Leader And A Beloved Co-Founder
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our co-founder, Edward “Ed” MacKinnon. Ed died suddenly on November 10, 2024 at his home in Mont Carmel, Prince Edward Island.
LMDG was born from an idea that Ed had shared with his co-founders – to start and grow a company based on providing exceptional personalized consulting services. Ed believed in the importance of relationships and, together with the excellence in service we continue to provide today, propelled LMDG to be a recognized leader in our industry. These are the pillars of success that Ed nurtured at LMDG until his retirement in 2011.
Ed had very strong family values and he used these values to develop the team culture at LMDG. His many friendships with the people he worked with, partners, staff, colleagues and clients, is a testament to his character.
While he built and established his career as an Architect and code consultant in Vancouver for over four decades, he never let go of his family roots in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. He eventually built a house overlooking the water in Mont Carmel which he would call home after his retirement.
He is survived by his siblings, their spouses, and his many nieces and nephews in the Maritimes. He will be missed by them and his many friends and colleagues in Vancouver. He had a love for chocolate labradors, and he will be missed by his current dog, Forest, who was with him when he passed away.
Ed was a true leader and very proud of the success he built with LMDG and the recognition he received from his peers. He gave back to his community and profession by volunteering his time and energy to help educate future professionals in his field.
We are grateful for his legacy which will be forever embedded in LMDG’s foundational values.
We will miss his kindness and generosity, and most of all, his friendship.
