SCOPE OF SERVICES
LMDG’s scope of services included a review and assessment of the fire protection and life safety requirements outlined in the Alberta Building Code (ABC) as well as the Alberta Fire Code (AFC) in support of a design-build proponent submission.
The Calgary Cancer Centre is set to be an internationally recognized and state-of-the-art treatment centre and research hub facility that opened on October 28, 2024. The new Centre will play an integral role in increasing the capacity of care for cancer patients living in the Calgary area, and offering more comprehensive care. Its location, next to the Foothills Medical Centre, will enhance key existing programs and services by integrating them.
The unique design, created with future patients in mind, is aimed to cause a psychological response that evokes feelings of trust, comfort, and resilience. Additionally, the building itself was engineered to provide vibration and noise-free environments. In combination with the courtyard at the heart of the building, the Calgary Cancer Centre is optimized for patient recovery and healing. The design also included a high sustainability goal, with a target of LEED Gold certification.
